Kumpulan contoh-contoh simple past tense.

Active voice (positive) :

• I read a newspaper every morning. |  karena bentuk past dari "read" pun "read (baca: red)", hanya beda dari pelafalan.
• He borrowed my friend's book. 
• Cat chased mice.  

Active voice (negative) :

• I did not (atau didn't) read a newspaper.
• He didn't borrow my friend's book.
• Cat didn't chase mice.   

Passive voice (positive) :

• A newspaper wasread by me every morning.
• My friend's book wasborrowed by him.
• Mice were chased by cat.      

Passive voice (negative) :

• A newspaper was not (atau wasn't) read by me. | karena v3 dari "read" pun "read"
• My friend's book wasn't borrowed by him.
• Mice were not (atau weren't) chased by cat.      

Interrogative positive

• Was a newspaper read by you?
• Was your friend's book borrowed by him?
• Were mice chased by cat? 

Interrogative negative

• Wasn't a newspaper read by you?
• Wasn't your friend's book borrowed by him?
• Weren't mice chased by cat?
